Silenced, Not Broken
I left my abusive marriage at nine months pregnant. What I didn’t realize at the time was that leaving wouldn’t end the abuse — it would just change forms.
I escaped with a newborn and no money. I rebuilt from nothing. But the family court system that was supposed to protect us became the new battleground. What should’ve been a path to peace became years of litigation, accusations, and emotional warfare. The courtroom replaced the living room. The control never stopped — it just put on a tie and called itself “justice.”
I wrote Silenced, Not Broken under the pen name Leona Grey as both a testimony and a plea. It’s for every mother who tried to protect her child and was painted as unstable. For every survivor whose bruises weren’t visible. For every story that’s still unfolding in sealed courtrooms and sleepless nights.
What the system doesn’t understand is that emotional abuse doesn’t end when a relationship does. In many cases, especially when children are involved, it evolves into something more covert — and more devastating.
My book isn’t just a story — it’s a mission. I’m using it to raise awareness, invite conversation, and fund the legal fight to protect what matters most.
